Breaking that chain...

This is definitely a FIRST! I need ya'll to take a seat, listen and LEARN. A baby was born along time ago, that baby later grew up to become a boy. During the stages of this boy's childhood, he becomes "fatherless" at a very young age. Not knowing the true reason, he continues to live on without a father figure. Within time this boy grows up to become a young man. God blesses him with a beautiful woman that he soon calls his wife. Eventually, him and his wife start a family which makes him the person that he never had in his childhood(a father). During his fatherhood, many obstacles were placed in his path, perhaps the same obstacles that were placed in his fathers path which were too much to handle and caused him to leave the way he did. Now in this case, there wasn't any opportunities to call dad and ask "what should I do in this situation?" Or "How do I handle this?". He had to make his own decisions with no advice offered to him. The choice was simply his. He could have followed the same foot steps as his father or he could "break that chain" that the devil created and follow the foot steps of "THE" Father(God).

Well, I'm blessed to say that he went ahead and broke that chain, because if he didn't, I would not have been the man I am today. Not only that, but being that he did choose to roll with God's plan, God blessed him with the greatest gift ever; and that was the opportunity to reunite with his father. This is a dedication to the most positive figure that I truly look up to, my DAD. I am truly blessed to have you in my life! Happy Fathers Day!!

Thanks for everything and God Bless!
Peace!

Z.O. Presents "The Family VA-cation"!!

Well I told everyone I'll be posting clips from my family reunion in Virginia. I'm finally finished. Let me explain the whole vibe I was attempting to bring...... remember this video???

CLASSIC Hip Hop!!

For those of yall who didnt know, that song was sample from another song entitled "Today" performed by Tom Scott. "Today" had more of a happier vibe; and being that this reunion was one of the happiest moments of my life, this song went perfect with the intro. So to all my family and friends.... I present the intro to "The Family VA-cation" (if you didnt see any pictures of you, dont panic. You'll be on the next clip, promise! This is only an introduction) God Bless!!

Enjoying the photography life!!

Yesterday I did some riding around; I ended up going downtown. There's always something good downtown. If I had a choice, I would probably shoot downtown for the rest of my life. There's always something going on, you meet a lot of new people, it's just a great place to be! WELL, that's until a security guard taps you on the shoulder and tells you "Sir just to let you know, this area prohibits any "PROfessional" photographers. I ask that you not take any more pictures please, next picture you take will give me permission to call HPD....blaaaaaaaaah"LOL I simply turned off my camera, attached the cap back on my lens and said "Thanks for the compliment". Seriously, she just called me a professional and I havent even been doing this for a year yet. How cool is that, huh? LOL Wish I had a camcorder instead...

Z.O. Photography Meets Z.O. Music...???

Hellooooo wooorld!! See, I told ya I was going to keep my blogspot up to date!! LOL Last night I had some free time. I figured I introduce ya to something different, well at least it'll seem different to most of ya...LOL. Anyway, those who know me remember Z.O. being a rapper and unexpectedly switching his title to Photographer. I get questions from people from time to time about my current music status. I usually say, I stop rapping because I dont do it as heavy as I used to do it. Only time I pick up pen is when I have something on my mind that I want to get off my chest or if God is sending me a message. So in other words, most of my music is just from the heart and soul now. I'm not trying to make any hits or sell any records. Not saying is anything wrong with that, I just have different goals now. So I pretty much make music just to send a message out. There's a song I did not to long ago, that really describes my whole character. No matter what Hood i'm in, whatever club scene I'm snapping photos at; THIS is who I am! I figured I share this with ya because I got love for all my readers out there(even if its just 3 people reading this....LOL) But here it is, hope ya like it... Peace!! God Bless!!

Going back home :(...

Last week was the week I said "Goodbye VA". It felt kind of bad, but at the same time I came back to Houston with a whole lot more motivation. Before I hopped on the plane, I stopped by to see my Grandmother one last time. The words she passed on to me were the words that keep me on track for now on. She told me "I will pray for and you will be blessed" So its crazy because ever since I've been back home, I seen, done and expected greater things and they have all come to past. God is good! But yo, I been working on this Family Reunion DVD and its coming out tight! Be on the look out for that. I shall return.... Peace!

Reminiscing...

It's amazing how you come back to your hometown and see more good than bad. Back then it more bad than good. I guess this is how it is when you begin to bring God in your life. As a matter of fact, I know that's how it is when you bring God into your life.I woke this morning from a long day yesterday. One of the main things I wanted to do is get some photos to take back home. What better place to go to than Newport News Park....I ended up getting some good shots in

VA...Im baaaaack! LOL

Yes, I made it to my destination safely. First person I made sure seen was my beautiful grandmother. Time flies by so fast sometime. That's why its soooo important that we try not to burn bridges and stay in touch with those we truly love. Oh, and holding grudges is the wackest thing you can do in life. But anyway, my grandmother is getting up in age and I just wanted to spend as much time with her that I could. She helped raise me and im thankful for everything she's done for me... now you know I had to get some pictures, right? lol

I've been so busy down here in Houston, it was almost impossible to even think about a vacation...LOL. But God always makes away no matter how long it may take, all it takes is patience. So I'm at home right now, getting my things ready.... stay tuned!!

First Baby Shoot!

Today was a very fun day. I was given the opportunity to give these two beautiful new borns a photo shoot. I must admit, I was a tad bit nervous being that I never photographed babies. It was just one of those "expect the unexpected" days....LOL. But overall, everything turned out successful as usual. Thank God! LOL. One thing I love about photography is being able to put smiles on peoples faces; and by the looks of this married couple, my mission was accomplished!

Z.O.? The Photographer???

Thats exactly what I was asking myself in October, I'm a true believer of God and I believe he works through people in mysterious ways. I guess that explains why I have done so many random things in my life, including packing all my belongings in my hometown of Newport News, VA and moving all the way down south to Houston, TX. And trust me, after 4 years of living down here, I still get alot of questions asked about that decision....LOL. Anyway, it was October 1st, 2008(only 5 months to now) I woke up that morning with another random urge. After cleaning myself up, I hopped in the car and drove straight to Best Buy. Usually I would go out for some breakfast first, but for some reason I had a different type of hunger. It was a hunger for art, creativity, expression and true talent. Oooook? So what does Best Buy have to do with this??? Well, at this time I was an aspired music artist, so my intentions were to buy something related to just that. Usually i would just purchase a CD for some inspiration to write more songs; But ever since Youtube came out, I always wanted to make video blogs to promote my music. So the first area I went to was the camera/camcorder section. Now I only had like $200 on me, so a camcorder was out of the question...LOL. So I ended up purchasing one of those Kodak EASYSHARE cameras for like $120. One the employees told me that the camera will record videos up to 15 minutes. Thats pretty much all I needed. Anyway, when I got home I had to charge the battery. So while Im waiting on, I go on myspace to burn time...LOL. When I logged on I went to Jay-z's page to see if he was really dropping a Blueprint 3 album, which I ended up with no info.... smh. I listened to some of his songs then I clicked on his pics, thats when I saw a photo that really caught my eye at the time. It was him looking in the mirror with a whole bunch of jewelry on his sink. It looked liked this:

What made this photo so hot was the black and white effect on it. It gave a dramatic feel to it. If only I could have photos like this! Wait a minute.........is my camera finished charging???? Yes it is!! Sooo, you already should know what happens next...LOL. I already had a tripod from back in the day. I went straight to the bathroom, attached the camera to the tripod and ended up with my first photo taken from my Kodak! It wasnt like Jay's, but it was a start:

LOL!

From that day on, I wanted to be a photographer and become better at using cameras..... and from this day I "Thank God for Photography!"

I hope everyone enjoys everything I present on this blog.... I have a lot of exciting moments that I will be sharing with yall, so stay tuned! Peace and God Bless!!
